Wedding Nightmares
Have you heard about... " We did a wedding once where the guests were very helpful- too
helpful. They decided they'd rather have served drinks, so they undid
the drink bar and moved the drinks to each table, serving everyone.
They helped clean-up and literally "tear-down" the decorations- before
we were ready. Then when they left, they tried to take things- the
plants, the trays, the guest book! We had them bounced at the door
and recovered items."
"I heard of a wedding send-off that didn't work as planned and
left everyone feeling a lot less cheery. A couple bought a bunch
of beautiful butterfly favors for when they departed the reception- but
the father of the bride had left them in his car all day and they all died.
They didn't find out until all the guests tried to release them. You should
always be specific about duties and instructions."
" I did a beautiful outdoor wedding in 1995 at a park in Lafayette. Plans were all complete, but it rained for three days before and the park was sunken and it had standing water. The city mowed but forgot to pick up the clippings as we had planned with them to do. So we had to move the whole wedding to a church in Denver. It was gorgeous but you have to be a relaxed bride not to have a indoor plan at your site."
